Hey Everybody, Friday is our first meeting of the season!! I hope you all saved the date and are excited to see all your old and new fish keeping friends. I want to make it a good year as we re-grow our club. There will be a fish show of your fish so please bring at least one fish. The judging will be done by all the members voting. Any fish could take first, second, or third. Also, a fish auction. I am sure you have raised fish over the summer and want to sell some to make room for some new and different ones that you get from the auction. Maybe you just have too many in a tank and must thin them out. The basket raffle will be four nice items and the regular table raffle will be run differently and it will be a surprise to all how we do it. Refreshments of course and talking about fish and sharing ideas that we have learned from others. I know I learned a few because it is always an evolving hobby. I included a link to the fish show rules.
The meeting is at the same location (link below), and you can start coming at 730 or so to set up. See You There!!!

Hello All!
Hard to believe that September is right around the corner already! School will be starting, and we will be getting into our fall and winter activities. With that in mind our meeting will be coming up on September 15th at the Amvets hall in Lake Ronkonkoma. It will start at 7:30 as usual and has a soft end time because it is happy hour upstairs at the hall and they welcome us to join.
We will have a fish(bowl) show and I encourage you to bring at least one fish that you have to the show. Voting will be done on a ballot by all the members. Honor system that you do not vote for your own fish LOL. I will post all the rules which are basic and most of us know them. Never think your fish are not worthy. I won best cichlid in show at the Keystone Clash with a small neolamp similis shell dweller. One of the smallest and gray cichlid in the show. Also bring fish in for the fish auction! Not only will you be able to show your fish in the show but sell and buy some. Many of us have been breeding fish not only indoors but outdoors in tubs. No doubt too many fish to bring inside so bring some to the auction. So, there will be lots of fish to look at and buy!
There will be a basket raffle with four or five larger items and our regular raffle. Our regular raffle will only have fifteen tickets pulled. The first five you will take one item off the table and the second ten will pick two items. Of course, there will be the refreshment table and we will mingle and talk fish while looking at what I hope will be a big fish show and auction to get our first meeting of the year rolling. Bring Fish!
Business will have to be discussed. Believe me, I wish everything could be free. The board has decided that dues will be twenty dollars a year for membership. At ten meetings a year that’s two dollars a meeting. This will help us with the costs of running the club. We will need help and officers will have to be elected. Dues will be collected at this meeting and the next. Probably have elections in November like the rest of America. I really want to get this club up and running like some of the other clubs. Fish and Ponds seem to be on an upswing!
Please feel free to email me with any questions at all. I generally check my mail twice a day.
