Chad Clayton is the Live Feeds Supervisor for Reed Mariculture, and has been with the company for more than eight years. Since graduating from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1997, he has worked in the aquarium hobby and aquaculture. Chad has been involved in genetics research with zebrafish (Danio rerio) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis MO, marine ornamental aquaculture, and food fish aquaculture. He has cultured numerous species of marine fish and invertebrates and is still adding to his list of successes. His current focus is on large-scale, Apocyclops panamensis copepod production using Instant Algae as the sole diet.
For Reed Mariculture, Chad handles technical support questions, trade shows and conferences, as well as educational presentations to large groups of enthusiasts and/or professionals. He lives with his wife and two children in Santa Cruz, CA on the Monterey Bay, where he enjoys coastal living by going tide-pooling and kayaking. His passion for his work and his family drive him to do better and to help others succeed in aquaculture.
