February 16 Meeting

Our January meeting was another great success with a lot of laughs and knowledge sharing. Our club is getting better and better every time we get together. We talked about how to keep your fish alive if you lose power in a storm. The idea came from one of our members and if you have an idea or presentation that you want to give, talk to me, or email me. I hope my last presentation on losing power was well received.

We had our elections and now have some new officers and people stepping up to help. I was elected as President with no opponent, and Nefes Pirzada is now Vice President. If you want to see the list of all the positions, check it out here.

It was also award night. Next year I hope we will be giving out more awards. The winner of the Fish Show this year was Harry. It’s not an easy task to bag, transport and show fish. I thank all the members that brought fish to every meeting. It’s nice to have not only people but also fish join us at the meeting. Our treasurer Nick made a great looking, one-of-a-kind, award plaque that was presented by both I and Buzz, the fish show chairman.

See you all on February 16thAnd click here to check out the photos from the January meeting.

January 19 Meeting

Our first meeting of the New Year will be this Friday the 19th.  I had great plans for it but unfortunately, I have been having a problem with my right hand (mouse hand) and had to have unexpected surgery. I will be fine, however, the meeting may have a different format.  I am not sure if I will be able to do the power point I wanted to present, but we’ll see.

We will still hold our election, raffle, and auction.

And the fish show will go on!!  Bring a fish to the meeting. You must be in it to win the 2024 yearly award. Get a jump start on it this month by entering a fish every meeting to accumulate points. Any fish is worthy of a win in the show.  Remember it is a club vote and not just one or two people voting for your fish. The 2023 winner will be announced at the meeting and will receive a well-deserved award.

I hope I can finish the power point for the meeting but if not, we will discuss what to do with your tank or pond before, during, and after a power outage.  A member came to me at the November meeting asking me questions about this subject and I think it is a good one.  So, with that said, any experience and input will be welcome.  I have had plenty of experience with it and have learned a lot on my own and from others.

Our venue has asked that we start the meeting a little earlier so we can be totally cleaned up and out by 10:00. So, from now on our meetings will start at 7:30.  Do not worry if you cannot get there by then or must put fish in the auction or fish show.  When you get there, you do what you must do.  All our members understand, and you should not stress!!

December 15 Meeting/Holiday Party

Now that Thanksgiving is over, and I hope everyone had a good time getting together with family and friends.  Now it is time to talk about the next holiday!  Our fish group will have its Holiday Party on December 15th at our regular meeting date.  We will have heroes, salads and of course some sort of dessert.  There will be a can raffle of some special larger items like LED lights, Filters, and other items.  The fish auction will be One Dollar Style.  What this means is that the club gets one dollar per bag, and you get the rest of the proceeds.  I hope that this will prompt people to bring even more fish to the party and you will be able to bid on and win more fish!!  There will also be a fish show so bring in a fish you either bred or grew in your tank.  The judges are the members that come that night, ie your fish peers.

Our last meeting was amazing.  Our fish auction included a twelve-inch Arowana and some other different fish donated by Aqua Hut who always supports our club.  There were also some amazing angelfish and other fish that our members bred brought in and I thank them.  It’s exciting to bid on and win fish in the auction.  We had a large turnout, and many members paid their dues for the year.

The holiday party is free to members and if you want to bring a guest it will cost five dollars paid at the door.  We ask that you limit it to one guest because our venue is not that large.  Membership is only twenty for the year and we had a lot join and the last meeting.  I NEED to know if you are coming and if you are bringing a guest by DECEMBER FOURTH please.  Email only me at tomfish4@hotmail.com.  You can also pm me on Facebook.  I will be the only one keeping track, so it does not get confusing.  I want to make sure I do not have to cut the hero into smaller pieces if too many people come. LOL

RSVP DECEMBER FOURTH PLEASE
